The notice dates for a boating opportunity are to be selected when you publish a notice.
Coboaters notices can be published according to 3 time criteria:
- A well-defined boating period
- Boating opportunity for a general sailing program
- Participation in an event
The aim of this article is to help you choose between these 3 criteria and give your ad the best possible visibility.

- How do I know if someone replied to my notice
- What is the difference between a notice and a profile?
1. Well-defined period for a boating opportunity
- To generate qualified contacts that will quickly and reliably lead to a navigation, publishing a "Well-defined navigation" notice is the most effective.
- If you own a boat, choose a "Specific dates" if the proposed sailing is already scheduled.
- Example: I propose to sail on the weekend of July 15 and 16.
- Example 2: I propose day trips from July 1 to 8
- Example 3: I propose a trip from Hyères to Greece and back between May 1 and July 30
You must use "well-defined period" even if you publish this ad 3 months before your boating opportunity, and your departure will depend on the weather and whether your boat is perfectly ready. In this case, users will understand that your departure is planned from May 1st.
If you're a crew member, choose "well-defined sailing" if your availability for boating opportunity is limited to certain dates.
Example 1: I'm looking to sail the weekend of July 15 and 16 to La Rochelle.
Example 2: I'm looking to cruise from July 15 to July 30.
2. A general navigation program: boating opportunity for a period of time
To generate contacts on the site, even if you don't yet know your availability dates for your boating opportunity, you need to use the "General sailing program".
- If you are a boat owner, choose a "general program" to obtain visibility and crew contacts while :
Your sailing schedule has not been finalized - You never have a defined sailing program, because you sail when the weather's fine and/or when you feel like it.
Example 1: I offer day and weekend outings from April to June, contact me to organize something.
Indicate "General program" + dates 01/04/2023 to 30/06/2023.
Example 2 : I propose a cruise in July and August
Please indicate "General program" + dates 01/07/2023 to 30/08/2023
TIP: When your calendar becomes more precise, you can modify your ad or publish a new ad with a "well-defined navigation".
If you are a crew member, choose a "general program" if your availability is general.
Example 1: I'm available all year round to sail from La Rochelle.
Indicate "General program" + dates 01/01/2023 to 01/01/2024
Example 2: I am available in autumn and winter to sail to the Caribbean
Please indicate "General program" + dates 21/10/2023 to 21/03/2024
Example 3: I am looking for a summer sailing trip
Indicate "General program" + dates 21/06/2023 to 21/09/2024
TIP: When your calendar becomes more precise, your dates for boating opportunity become more defined, you can modify your notice or publish a new ad with "well-defined navigation"
3. Boating or Sailing for an event
If you're taking part in an event listed by Coboaters, you need to choose "Event participation" + the proposed event from the drop-down menu that opens up.
In this case, your notice :
- will be automatically linked to the event dates
QUESTION : What if my boating opportunity dates differ from those of the event?
Example 1: You would like to take part in the Voiles de Saint Tropez as a crew member, but you are not available for the 10 days of competition.
Example 2: As the boat owner, you are taking part in the VOG Saint Malo flotilla from September 12 to 15, but you are leaving Cherbourg from September 10 to 16.
ANSWER: In this case, please specify the dates of your actual availability in the text of your notice.
